Five things I'd have loved to say

Five things I’d have loved to tell you.

I’d have loved to say, ‘you have the most beautiful eyes’
but truly I don’t even remember their color
and I don’t think guessing would be a good idea now that I’ve gone public.

I’d have loved to say, ‘your smile can light up a whole street’
but we both know that’s a lie.

I’d have loved to say, ‘your laughter was the warmest thing to happen and could save a man from the arctic frost’
but when it’s that cold I doubt if even you could laugh.

I’d have loved to say, ‘you are one in a million’
but even you know that there are more than a billion, you are just one.

I’d have loved to say, ‘you were truly the greatest heart robber’
but unfortunately even with all you do you still find it hard to steal the easiest of hearts.  Huh!
There are still many other things I’d have loved to say and you’d have loved to hear but I guess I just have to say the truth.

Your eyes might not be memorable but they captured me and I’m locked beneath their ethereal gaze.

Your smile can’t light up a bulb but just its faintest glow could brighten my life.

Your laughter might not warm me up on chilly days but it does warm my heart in a million ways.

You’ve tried, long and hard to steal his heart but to no avail. He’s a fool because it won’t budge. On the other hand you’ve stolen my heart, my soul and my love but truly it seems you don’t know.

I’d have loved to say it all ends here but my heart yearns on in this futile quest and there are so many other things
I’d have loved to say.
